A Potpourri Of Quality Film Reviews

It used to be that you had to go to the video store to get a movie. Instead of buying or renting the dvd, people now can choose a movie download instead. Let's look at what you might find to watch using a movie download site.

Light in the Piazza: Awesome soap in regards to a mommy who's distressed to wed off retarded baby girl however she isn't certain she's being fair to suitor. This was filmed on location in Italy. Screenplay is by Julius Epstein, from Elizabeth Spencer's novel. Cast includes Olivia de Havilland, Rossano Brazzi, Yvette Mimieux, George Hamilton, and Barry Sullivan. (101 minutes, 1962)

Follow Me Boys: Mile-high Disney corn in regards to easy associate who settles in tiny town throughout 1930s and starts Boy Scout troop, committing his life to this empowering pursuit. A little less jelly could have helped, although a minimum of it's finished with awesome conviction. Cast includes Fred MacMurray, Vera Miles, Lillian Gish, Charlie Ruggles, Elliott Reid, and Kurt Russell. (131 minutes, 1966)

300: 300 tells the epic tale of the Battle of Thempylae. The Persians have come by the thousands to take over Greece. When asked to simply give up, and receive power and riches, the Spartan leader refuses the offer. Instead, he and 300 of his best men stood against the whole of Xerxes army, and kill thousands before finally being overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of the attackers.

The Accused: Based on a true story this movie tells the events surrounding a rape, and the trial that follows. A young woman is raped repeatedly at a populated bar, and no one did anything to stop it. In the following trial she is viciously attacked by the defense, taking her character and trying to destroy it. Stars Kelly Mc Gillis, Jodie Foster, Bernie Coulson, and Leo Rossi play the major roles. (1988 documentary-drama)

Jupiter's Thigh: Blah continuation to Beloved Investigator, with sleuth Girardot and professor Noiret becoming engaged in fascinate when honeymooning in Greece. Cast includes Annie Girardot, Philippe Noiret, Frances Perrin, and Catherine Alric. (90 minutes, 1979)

The Fugitive: Brooding tirade set spoils, both visibly and morally. His driver-chaperone Maguire has mastered the black market, add a female Clooney knew before Blanchett has finished. The lord knows what in request to subsist the battle. Now Clooney finds him self knee-deep in a global 'captivate and slaughter' scheme connected to Blanchett. Shot on the Warner Brother back lot in request to invoke 1940s Hollywood films, this is a fascinating stylistic workout for Soderbergh. Cast includes Henry Fonda, Dolores Del Rio, Pedro Armendaiiz; J. Carrol Naish, Leo Carrillo, and Ward Bond. (104 minutes, 1947)

Shooter: Retired Marine Corp Sniper Bob Lee Swagger is asked to come to Washington, to help track another sniper that will try to kill the President. What happens to him next is a total shock. The same US government people that he is helping are actually setting him up to take the fall for the assassination. He somehow escapes when he is shot, and is now on the run. He is also ready to fight back.

The Guys: A fire branch commander who lost 8 gentlemen in the nine/eleven Planet Trade Hub catastrophe gets help from a virtuoso author as he disposes to transfer eulogies for the departed. Based on Anne Nelson's play, this looks surprisingly well as a film, as a result of restrained feelings, truthful performances by the 2 megastars, and the nobility it finds in the lives of normal hardworking individuals. Controller Simpson co-scripted with Nelson; Weaver is his spouse. Cast includes Sigourney Weaver, and Anthony LaPaglia. (88 minutes, 2003)

The Jacket: Following a vicious injury in 1991 when fighting in the Gulf Battle, cadet Brody returns to Vermont with amnesia. He eventually is falsely accused of killing a cop and finds himself in an insane asylum. Then he receives experimental treatments that produce flashback and visions of his future. He sees he will die in four days, now it is a race against time. Cast includes Adrien Brody, Keira Knightley, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kris Kristofferson, Daniel Craig, Kelly Lynch, Brad Renfro, Mackenzie Phillips, and Jason Lewis. (103 minutes, 2005)
