A Trainee's Manual For Gambling On Dice Online

By Simon M Skinner

If you've been to a free online casino, you've probably seen a game called craps. This is a complicated game for new gamblers. Gambling or betting strategies can be very complex and there's a lot of money at stake. With online casino gambling, you can protect some of your real money by learning with free play money or getting into a freeroll game, however-and that's the recommended way to learn.

Even the basics of craps can be confusing, so we are only going to stick to the basic betting strategies. Some of the more complicated strategies should definitely be saved for when you have a better understanding of the game or can play for free versus real money online casino gambling.

In live casino games, it is very fast moving and takes four different dealers and a shooter to play. On the free online casino websites, the shooter may rotate around the table and the computer does much of the work on paying out winning bets and collecting losing ones.

The basic bet in craps is called the "pass line." Alternatively, you can choose the "don't pass" line-and that means you're betting against the people who are betting on the "pass line" bet. The first roll is called a "come out" roll. That roll sets the number the shooter wants to roll again before "crapping" out with a 7 on the dice. When the "come out" roll is being tossed, a black "off" marker is shown. If an 11 or a 7 is rolled on the dice during the "come out" roll, you'll win even money. After that you don't want to roll a 7 until after you roll the same number as is on the "point" or "come out" roll.

On the come out roll, if you roll a 2, 3 or 12, which is called "craps", you lose. If you roll 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, that is your point that you have to roll again before the 7. So, the game starts with you using the "pass line" to place your bet, betting on hitting the point before hitting a 7. If you use the "don't pass" line, it means you are betting that a 7 will hit before hitting the point number.

Let's look at an online casino gambling scenario to illustrate the point:

The dealer has the black "off" marker on the table, and everybody bets. The shooter rolls the "come out" dice and gets a 7, so everybody wins except for the "don't pass" bettors, which means the opposite- they lose.

Now it's a new round and the dealer puts the black "off" marker out again. People place bets. But in this case the shooter rolls a 5 on the dice for the "come out." The dealer will then flip over the black "off" marker so it shows the white "on" side and he'll put it by the 5 on the board. The shooter rolls several times and finally succeeds in rolling a 5 on the dice without getting a 7. Again, everyone wins-unless they bet on the "don't pass."

This time, the process starts over and the shooter rolls a 6. The white "on" marker goes on the 6, but the shooter rolls several times and finally rolls a 7, with no 6 coming up first. Everybody loses except for the bettors on the "don't pass" line and they win.

These are the basics of online casino gambling and the game of craps. Free online casinos are the best way to start learning the game and getting familiar with the odds before you move on to more complex strategies and real money.
